SPACE QUALITIES

Which is the appropriate position for each use/function?

Which use is placed high and which one lower?

Which use is visible and which one is hidden?

Which use can be indoor and which one outdoor? or semi-open?

Which part of the space is only for pedestrians, only for bikes-skateboards and where they can coexist?

Which functions are autonomous and which one can interact with the others?

FORM EXPLORATION EXERCISES

1. Our early experimentation can be seen to be a free exploration of form generation. The use of digital form generation will a stimulus for physical model outputs.

2. Exploration of faceted geometry to create unique form.

3. Skeletal models, dealing with the practicality of structure. Laser modelling can be used by us to explore the intricacy of structure resolution.

4. Modular: creative exploration of laser-cut set-sized geometrical shapes, to rapidly create physical forms. The rigid shapes implicated limitations yet alternatively provided syntax of pattern and rhythm during exploration.

5. Within this ‘limitless’ digital field. how can we retain the essentials of architecture whilst using this instrument of innovation?

POSSIBLE CONSTRUCTIONS

AUTONOMOUS.jpg The structure can be self-supporting/exoskeleton construction.

SUPPORTED3.jpg The structure can be be supported by a load-bearing structure.

SUSPENDED.png The structure can be suspended structure.

PARAMETERS

To create our design we are going to use different parameters.

These parameters will be based on environmental noise, sun intensity and traffic intensity.

Diagram of field categories articulating SITE CIRCULATION field

SL1.jpg SL2.jpg

SL3.jpg

This field will provide us with representational particles that might be the building blocks of our structure. These representational particles might be further developed by analyzing their density to observe their transitional behavior or by linking the particles together to produce a series of parallel strands and thus construct a relationship between the generated pattern and topographic condition.

Mapping of circulation circuits

SL4.jpg

The structure is considered as a flow of bodies and information through space, over time. The programmatic elements will be modeled as attractors on the site. Visitors to the site, information and exchanges will be modeled as particles. Once particles are attracted, they start forming varying degrees of concentration.

Parametric field + mapping translated into Linear landscape treatment

LA.jpg

Parametrically quantifies the existing site forces with added new functional parameters. Further breaking down of the parameters can play an instrumental role in site zoning and identifying the future movement patterns
