[Ineffable Space]

Creating architecture that appeals to everybody is difficult, to keep a developer happy, you need have meet a list of criteria…., which often oppose the needs or wants of potential buyers, especially as their needs differ….

[Kevin Lynch Study]]

The research on this park indicates that you have multitude of interested parties, TU Delft, Science Centre, Local Residence. Even the bouwpub is interested in organising some festive activities in the park. The concept and drive for this project is the focus on architecture as an adaptable habitat, an architecture that fulfils the needs of its inhabitants. The design is dynamic, What is essential in the concept is that through a dynamic structure more functions are able to take place. This notion of changeable function creates the ultimate approach in architecture – the creation of space that allows for multiple and adaptable programmes to occur simultaneously.

[ Image of MIT Project]

This idea is not new, but forerunners have had very expensive approaches to this problem, MIT has uses hydraulics in every component, that becomes very expensive! Secondly, as there are no relationship between different components, a separate top layer is needed to enclose the space. Our project frees that concept, to have the ability not to only change landscape, but to create interior spaces.

[Interface] Our project thrives on multiplicity, the projects has the ability, to keep different client (validators) satisfied, by enabling the use of the park as an landscape, lecture hall or auditorium. Through technology, we are using an interface to give a client the power to change, the size, location, and shape of the intervention to suite his/her needs.

This is a powerful notion, because it allows people to change their preference, according to their needs, be it for the time of day, weather or seasons.

This image depicts the principle of the component, structurally sound, unit consists of two motors attached to gears that turn the steel thread. Steel plates welded to connectors links the components. As you can see we only have three components, which are able to support themselves, the structure will be very stable if components are supported on all sides.

[ Box Moving up SU]

A component is part of a flock, it follows its neighbours to preferred resting position, the units contain, ultrasonic sensors to read the height of the connections, and 12v motors that turn a steel thread to make the units move up or down. When in position the motors oscillate, until they are given a new instruction or command.

[Best Render]

In this park we have one big intervention and other smaller applications.

The whole park is re-defined, in aid of making the park a more fluid urban proposal for the surrounding campus. With the units used as conglomerate of functions the need of many will be satisfied, the park will in future used to a fuller extent and hence be one step closer to a truly adaptable environment.

Thank You

Defence!!!

Geometric shapes have inherent dynamic qualities that influence our perception and experience of the built environment. A square for example, is inherently static and non-directional, consequently a room of square or cubic proportions my feel dull or vacuous

A dynamic composition encourages the eye to explore
