Van Heijplantsoen

The site in front of BK-City, the "van heijplantsoen" has some nice quality's which are unique to a park. It has diverse vegetation, a nice view of open space and also the view to the build surrounding is really nice. However, the park is not being used. The thick borders and disruptive influences like sound make the park uninviting.

The video of the site demonstrates its emptiness. By doing similar experimentation to that of the seating arrangement in the Orange lecture hall, more interaction will take place. This will cause the site to flourish with more activities.

Approach

'Making this park come to live', this was the challenge for this site. In order to do so, several actors needed to be addressed. To make the park as vibrant as possible there was a need to introduce different functions on the site without loosing the feeling and quality's of the current park. From this the challenge of mixing functions through technology was born. Specialization02.png

Design

The integration of the technical systems has been done on a big scale. The park is now directed to al the main actors in the surrounding. The intervention has a been given a central point as well as different small inventions pulling the park together as a whole.
