Why renvigorate the space?
- The intervention can begin to encourage a better future scenario
- The site is a historic monument (deemed to be one of the 12 pearls of Delft) and so it should be used.
- The proposed construction of 5.000 new homes means that new blue and green space needs to be created OR underused green space needs to be made more accesible and usable.
- Of course the park does not need to be reinvigorated, it could be left as it is, which would make our project a lot easier. But there appears to be a lot of potential and opportunities for something to happen.
The wider development of green and blue infrastructure offers us an opportunity. If we develop our intervention as a framework we can integrate it into the infrastructure development. In this scenario our focus changes from the small park to the campus as a whole and other underused spaces.
We can also view our intervention as the first step in the development of the urban infrastructure and creating this new future scenario.
