Here we lay out various options for the intervention in the area in regard to the environment: green space and water
Option 1 is to leave the boundaries as they are and work within the existing site: the roads are there as a barrier.
Option 2 is to get rid of the Mijnbouwstraat and extend the park to the Botanical gardens and the Science Center: more effective connection to the Science center - possibility to connect to the Botanical gardens.
Option 3 is to make the Julianalaan part of the park: improves the connection to BK - creates a possible extension space for the school -generates a bigger traffic in front of the Botanical gardens and the Science Center.
Option 4 is to only close off part of the Julianalaan: turns Mijnbouwstraat only partly into 2-way traffic (city council)- enabling a partial extension of the park to BK.
Option 5 is where we close off both the Mijnbouwstraat and Julianalaan: redirects the traffic via the Zuidplantsoen - unify the Science Center, the Botanical gardens, the faculty of Architecture and the roads besides the student residences to create a city park that (along with the botanical gardens) stretches to the canal de Schie.
Option 6 is where we divert the traffic around the burial grounds via the main library and Aula. Parking is solved by underground parking at certain points.
