DISRUPTIVE THEORIES

We have investigated the meaning of the term "disrupt" in different semantic fields. It's intresting notice that "disruption" is always connected with the concept of TIME.

ECONOMY

In economics the term ‘disruptive’ relates to the ‘Theory of technologies’ or ‘Disruption innovation’. Disruptive technology is an innovation that helps create a new market, eventually disrupting the existing market and value network and displacing earlier technology. The term is used in business and technology literature to describe innovations that improve a product or service in ways that the market does not expect.

Disruptive = characterized by unrest or disorder or insubordination; causing disruption or unrest

Disruption = the act of breaking regular flow or continuity of something; disturbance; a disorderly outburst or tumult; an event resulting in dislocation or discontinuity

APPLIED SCIENCE

Heinz von Foerster
- Heinz von Foerster was a scientist but he was also connected to the Vienna's Circle and the philosophical community of the time. He has developed a long list of theories about the concept of complexity, including the theory of "order from disorder". He considers the unexpected and disruptive events something positive to achieve more stable new order.

ART

In Visual Arts the concept of disruption is strictly connected with form's complexity. The theory of "disruption of the form", indeed, sates that only when traditions have been disrupted more complex forms are born.
