Reflecting material Glare

Glare (“GLAss-REinforced” Fibre Metal Laminate (FML)) is composed of several very thin layers of metal interspersed with layers of glass fiber.

The advantage of using Glare over conventional metal (aluminum) is a better corrosion resistance, better fire resistance, lower specific weight.

Metals belong to the hard acoustic materials that means that these material are hardly able to absorb any sound, most of the sound will be reflected. The table above exemplifies this.

Absorbing material MAkustik MA15-s

Perforated transparant panels made out of PET (bottles for beverages are often fabricated out of PET). These panels are able to absorb low en middle high frequencies.

Properties : diameter perforations > 0,55 mm, the perforations are placed in a matrix of 5*5 mm, transparant > light transmittance 85%, weight > 1.5 -2 kg/m2

Fabrication : the panel can be attached, by means of screws or double-sided tape, to profiles of metal or plexiglass.

Above a graph with absorption values is showed. Every colour shows the absorption values at different frequency bands of two PET panels with an air cavity of a certain width in between.
