Intervention Proposal

The challenge is not to simply accommodate more people, the challenge becomes how to monitor, and respond to, the presence of users entering the site (since the site is often empty). To do this, we propose the further isolation of the site through eliminating all but one or two strategic "entrance points." These entrance points will record traffic patterns both in and out of the park and will serve as both a beacon and a funnel for the site, both advertising its location while simultaneously responding to the presence of users. The entrance points communicate with a noise barrier that will only operate when the site is occupied and cars are passing by. In rethinking the entry conditions, we will have an opportunity to integrate the noise barrier with the new entrances.
