Discussion with Linda van de Vos

3 Questions

1. What type of interface would you prefer?

a. As I am not part of sciences, I do not want to think too much about the design of the spaces. I do event organising, and prefer to have a predefined layout for the event. So examples of the spaces would be nice, and ones I can choose one. I know that other architects from the faculty would want to make it otherwise. They would most probably want to design the layout block by block.

Preferably have an interface off site. Preparation for these parties take a lot of time, and we will need to design it a day before and can see the atmosphere, before finalising it.

2. Does the design correspond to your initial idea of the initial for the site?

a. Yes, the freedom to change the size of the structure would be ideal. If not too many people arrive at the party, we can keep the venue small and it can grow as the amount of people become more – I would like that. (She had some difficulty visualising the roof space vs. floor space)

3. Any suggestion or comments?

a. 2. Noise. How does the structure handle the noise levels. Noise is often a problem when trying to organise these parties, the neighbours complain, making getting permits difficult.

Malchrie van der velt (teacher), mentioned how the faculty is short of space. I liked the idea of also extending workspaces to the park.

Additional

The park wanted to be used for the mid summer party. But because of the limitations of electricity and utilities, the internal university organisation declined the idea, and so permits couldn’t be obtained. There is a lot of interest in using the park for parties and events.

Bouwpub sees parties to have anything between 400 and 800 people for future events.
