Intervention Proposal

The challenge is not to simply accommodate more people, the challenge becomes how to monitor and control the amount of users allowed into the park. To do this, we propose the further isolation of the site through eliminating all but one or two strategic "entrance points." These entrance points will record traffic patterns both in and out of the park and will serve as both a beacon and a funnel for the site, both advertising its location while simultaneously controlling the amount of people who may enter. The entrance points will constrict or expand based on how many people are using the park. This function alone will attract attention to the park. In eliminating entrances, we will have an opportunity to introduce certain fast-growing trees and plants that will, in effect, create a "jungle-like" atmosphere inside the site, and also help to address noise issues. At this moment we also must develop a relationship with a landscape architect to guide our exploration into the horticultural side of our proposal. Park.jpg Go Back to Main Page
