Like a dating site, this platform tries to connect the different users in order to make a better understanding and ulimately better designs. A direct goal is to make visable what is out there to 'date'. What are the other atoms like and what are their strengths and weaknesses? With this knowledge we try making groups from different atoms easier and more flexible. Maybe one atom like to work partitially with another atom but not being completely occupied with chatting, We directly give give insight into every atoms wishes

Bees and ants in nature work together to ensure the survival of their species. They act as a superorganism, with the help of very smart interactive communication systems this organism can operate without hierarchy, it's like different cells in your body work together to form you as a person. This kind of organism is able to defend themselves against big animals like bears but also build big cities containing millions of individuals. Our project should behave the same way, interacting with each other to be better then the sum of its parts, building (projects) and defending against attackers (critics).

We reward those who contribute the most; the more you help others, the more you'll get back from it. This is actually exactly what torrents are all about. Most people see torrents as illegal, however file exchange itself helps the community to be much richer by being able to share all the information available.

VideoSift is a videos sharing community. Users are in charge of what videos get the most attention. The [http://www.varocms.com/powered CMS] used by Videosift is so advanced, that people are given more privileges by helping others. For example by repairing region blocked or dead video links, they can automatically earn points which they can use to publish videos they like most to the frontpage.
+

This ensures the most active users have the most influence on what information gets the most attention. An added incentive to become more a more active part of the community is an overall scoreboard of who has earned the most votes on all uploaded videos and comments. We strive to create a similar system with relevant information for the MSc1 Hyperbody design students.

Challenge

Our goal is to enhance the interaction between both atoms and teacher, now and in the future. With this enhancement the atom's designs will be better. Qualitative questionnaires will be needed to map the problems and answers of the actors.

Problems:

The interaction between the atoms is missing or either very laborious. From our own experience, knowing what the other atoms are all about in one quick view is not possible. The wiki does provide all the information needed, but it is very tedious and hard to read. Letting atoms connect with each other to form projects is very hard unless these atoms spend precious time on interaction.

Next to the atom interactions, the relation to the teachers can be a lot better providing tools and information needed for the design processes of all the atoms.

Opportunities:

We can try to find ways to let this process work much more fluently, creating a platform where all the actors (atoms and teachers), now and in the future, can interact with each other in order to make better designs. Through us we will enhance the architecture made by the atom's projects.

How:

We will create tools contributing to the demands of the actors. These can either be digital or physical tools. These tools don't necessarily have to relate to the site, because the relation is already made through the other atom's projects

Analysis

In order to design the tools needed to enhance the interaction between the atoms and the teacher, now and in the future, we have to analyze the demands for this interaction.

Self reflection

First we started by mapping our own demands and problems we stumbled upon during this first phase. This created a starting point for our challenge

--> insert here: our own list of demands to design the tools we are going to use <--

Atom questionnaire

Next we interviewed the atoms through a questionnaire. We will do this at the start and multiple times during our design process. This way we will map the all changing demands of the atoms, followed by different designed tools.

Atom Interviews

Some atoms showed interest in learning more about certain programs like grasshopper or processing. We interviewed some teachers, which gave workshops in the past, about their interest in this project.

Teacher Interviews

Concept Resources.jpg

Validators

In order to test our designs, we need validators. These validators are the users of our designed tools.

Users

All current and future MSc1 Hyperbody students (atoms)

Teachers related to the research and design of these students

- Christian Friedrich

- Tomasz Jaskiewicz

- Dimitrie Stefanescu - Processing Workshop

- Roxana Palfi - Grasshopper Workshop

- Gustavo Nascimento - Ecotect Workshop

And maybe more..

We also need the guidance of experts designing the tools. These expert might or might not be our validators, depending on the level of involvement in the platform we design.

Experts

Walter A. Aprile - design tools interfaces

Usman Haque - CEO of Pachube
