atom04:'''Manifesto'''
Design manifesto 1.0
Spatial qualities beyond the program work as an architectural installation.
We see the plot as an public node, an interactive space. As it is not a centre
in the terms of logistics, it can be an alternative public centre, a sub centre
with a characteristic theme. After the given character we can add the building,
the space will be holding an identity.
The characteristics of the site will be given by the installation. It is targeted
to students. We should connect this group with the site in a new way, we should
not repeat the functions in the city or in the campus. It is possible to guide them
to the place, by making it more visible for example if they pass by.
We can seek for alternative spatial qualities in Delft and in the architectural
context of today. To make this place meaningful and adaptable for any moment we
are proposing to do something with time. The technological means to achieve this
are now sufficient enough.
Our philosophical position is related to Bergson's concepts about the time - the
conflict about the measurable time and the real time, the mathematical and the
duration itself.
We are looking for a possibility to build public space, that connects the past
and the present. We are also seeking for the means to integrate the speculation
of the future in a certain way. We want to make the users aware of time.
Through memories.
Our aim is to create the space with the memory. The memory is the repetition
of the moment - a repetition after a measurable duration.
When the measurable duration follows the rhythms of the users, it is creating
and interactive relationship between the space and the user. Daily, Weekly,
Monthly and Annual repetitions can be seen as urban phenomena.
The users visit the place to record themselves, they record there Friday night
actions to laugh at themselves next week. On birthdays, campus days, new year's
evenings, and on every other annual event our space has the last years presence.
The space starts to function in the same rhythm as the student life in the campus.

APPROACH MANIFESTO
The site needs special character that overweighs its secondary logistical context
According to the strategic city plans in Delft, there is a need to strengthen the link between the old town and the TU Campus. This is the crucial task for the site. But the site is not situated on the logistical artery, the creation of the link with wide public use has to overcome the problem of secondary location.
There is a need for the site to become more than its location per se promises. The site itself has to start working as a disrupter of the flows. The site has to become an attractor.
The attractor of the site is its public character, the identity will be constant no matter what program the site will host. Allowing dynamically changing functions, the site becomes independent from the market forces. At the same time the character attracts people to the functions.
The character we give to the place will work as urban phenomena. The character of the place has to differ so much that it starts to work as an event beyond its architectural qualities. This can be achieved through time repetition concept, an interactive phenomena that can be seen as an ultimate event. The time repetition, the memory tool, makes the space personalized, but at the same time achieves the difference in kind, a forth dimension is now added to the space. The delight factor in this case is an atmospherical one.
This memory concept is achieved through repetition of actions, through the replied show of habits, through making the user traces visible. It is divided into themes to secure the success of future programs.
- Through repetition the commercial character of the space is amplified. The virtual crowd and constant reply of the best moments will attract the people. The mood for the place can be designed and presented, it is site-specific and real.
- The upcoming event in the place will be advertised through interactive relationship to the users. The traces that the users are leaving behind will be used as the participation method in the creation of the character of the space.
- The local natural condition can be seen a part of the memory landscape. A constant public attraction, preserved state of the place relates to the locals.
SPECIALIZATION
We are dealing with extremely changeable program. We can create the constant indentity even when the program cannot be relied on. It makes the possibilities of development extremely flexible. The is our cure for the changing and unstable world.
