Project Challenge

To create an intimate setting for users regardless of them being alone or accompanied.

Relevant Research

Psychologically, humans respond favorably to spaces that offer them protection and stimuli. More specifically, situations that protect a user from the posterior disarm the natural human fear of possible threats coming from behind.

--Dr. Dudley Weems

Opportunities

  1. test the validity of our "back protection" hypothesis.
  2. interact with potential users
  3. get feedback from said users and start a dialogue about the work of Atom 11.

Research

Because of the myriad ways in which intimacy is manifested and understood around the world, the study of intimacy at a cultural level is not in the scope of this research. The methodology of our research consisted of creating a taxonomy of Psychological and Phenomenological criteria which form the basis of an understanding of how humans experience space.
