/// A HyperPublic Landscape //

quick overview diagram

////// What is the challenge //

How do one create a HyperPublic space? What does it look like?

Which brings ///problem 01//

How can a specific user be defined? Our first measure was to design a questionnaire which we presented to selected potential users and neighbors of the site.

////// Who owns it Who uses it //

The location and organisation of the site made TU Delft the obvious client, the new design will act as a central platform through which the university will display the outstanding work of its student body and it will act as an icon for the beginning of the campus.

Students and professors from TU Delft and around the world are our primary users, as well as the interested general public.

////// How do we intervene //

/// static Intervention //

Plan Libre / Proposed

01. currently, the access to the site is intimidation due to the vegetation bordering the whole lot. The idea is to lift patches of this vegetation above the ground of the site and create sort of "plan libre" on the site.

The vegetation blocks the access to the site / Current

Cupping of the public/Rain protection/Active topography / Proposed

No plan organization/Rain exposure/Flat topography / Current

02. The idea is to "cup" people that walk on the site. The "plan libre" created by the lifting of the vegetation would turn the site into a temporary space used simply to get to the bus, class, etc.

03. The protection from the rain enables people to use the space while it is raining, some may even use the object solely for that particular function.

04. The active topography gives a more entertaining ground floor and it directs people through the site.

/// Dynamic - Interactive Intervention //

Combined elements of the design / Proposed

The skin of the structure grows and retract to adapt to its required functions, very much like the plants all around adapt to seasons to survive.

Slide atom 1

This slide focuses on the team setup. Each of us has chosen Hyperbody for a specific reason and has a fascination about the subject. We all have something we would want to research and explore in particular.

We agreed that for best results it would be good for each of us to work on our specific points of interests. Therefore, we chose a specialization which complete one another within the atom, with the goal to create a well integrated, iconic sustainable design.

Thursday planning, 15-9-2011

At this moment, our group is working on several things at once:

- We will remake this page to make it as clear as some of the best articles found on Wikipedia in the upcoming days.

- We are trying to find out how far we will extend our concept of being HyperPublic and are already facing challenges on this Wiki itself. So we have already bought our own domain http://www.hyperpublic.nl and have created some accounts (http://www.twitter.com/HyperPublicNL, HyperPublic@gmail.com) which we will use to communicate publicly. On the following page people can see our discussion document, which we have made publicly available as our design concept is based on the knowledge of the public, instead of just us three. ( http://bit.ly/HyperPublicGxls )

- We are creating a simple 3D model with the help of drawings of the buildings surrounding our site we got from the Delft University Facility Menagement and Real Estate department today.

- We will be using the 3D model to calculate the current 'publicness' of the site, using Autodesk Ecotect software and we will try out our initial changes to the site, as shown in the analysis

- We would like to get as many people involved as we can who can provide us with feedback for our project.
